2024 Annual Ice Show
Columbus Parks & Rec Skaters Informational Page

The Lincoln Center Skate Club produces an annual ice show each spring. The ice show features a cast of skaters of all ages and abilities (ages 4 through adult). 

Who:

  • Lincoln Center Skate Club members and

  • The participants in the Hamilton Community Center and Ice Arena's group Learn to Skate classes (Basic 1-6), Novice Club, and Adults will be participating.

All performances will be held at the Hamilton Community Center and Ice Arena.

There are two things you need to do to begin with:

​   1. Get measured for your costume at the rink. (Costume cost is $90)

​   Measurement Dates:

  • Tuesday, January 16 (3:30-5:00pm)

  • Thursday, January 18 (3:30-5:00pm)

  • Saturday, January 20 (11:00-1:00pm)

  • Tuesday, January 23 (3:30-5:00pm)

  • Thursday, January 25 (3:30-5:00pm)

  • Saturday, January 27 (11:00-1:00pm)

  • Tuesday, January 30 (3:30-5:00pm)

  • Thursday, February 1 (3:30-5:00pm)

  • Saturday, February 3 (11:00-1:00pm)

   2. Register for the classes that take place after the winter session (which ends on February 24, 2024). The Ice Show class cost is $80/skater. You will need to sign up for the level you are in currently. This is regardless if you pass this level during the class before the ice show class begins. (Otherwise you will have the wrong dress!)

 

Registration for the ice show class is January 16, 2024- February 8, 2024 through the Columbus Parks & Rec. (See below) No online registrations. Please register in person at the Rink Office or call (812) 376-2686. No late registrations due to the deadline for ordering costumes. Costumes are non-refundable. Ice show classes are held on the large ice. There are two sessions you can attend per week. Classes begin March 5, 2024.

Ice Show Checklist for Parks & Rec Skaters
Below are some useful items to make sure you bring with you on ice show days!

If you do not own any of these items please do not feel like you need to purchase them.

o Your figure skates (both of them!) (If you are not renting skates.)

o Ice Skate Guards- Please purchase these if you have your own figure skates. These help prevent the skate blade from dulling and prevents toes from being hurt if stepped on!

o Ice Skate Soakers- These help prevent the skate blade from rusting (you put them on your blade after skating)

o Soft Towel for Skate Blades- To wipe your figure skate blades off before storing in the soakers. This will help prevent your blades from rusting.

o Skate Bag- This bag provides protection for your skates while storing,  as well as a place to store everything you need for Ice Show Day. Additionally, the ZUCA bag provides your skater somewhere to sit if needed.

o Rink Tote- This slides onto your ZUCA bag & is great for holding your skate guards, water bottle, banaids, hair ties, kleenex, etc.

o Dress Bag with your Ice Show Dress (dress and dress bag provided by LCSC)

o Footed tights provided by LCSC (in the back zipper pocket of your dress bag) Plus a back up pair of tights if you have them because snags/accidents can happen

o Boot Covers If applicable (provided by LCSC)

o Nude Long Sleeve Leotard/BodySuit:If you are wearing a sleeveless costume try not to wear a long sleeve bodysuit, please wear a sleeveless bodysuit. If you are wearing a long sleeve costume you can wear the long sleeve bodysuit. (Optional- This goes under the dress & keeps your skater warm out on the ice)

o Robe or button down jacket to keep your skater warm while waiting to skate. (Zippers can snag your dress!)

o Hair accessories (if applicable) provided by LCSC: If your costume has them they will be in your dress bag, either in the back zipper pocket or in the front with your dress. 

o If applicable: Hair Donut or Hairagami for bun hairstyles (matching your skater’s hair color)

o Hair ties & Bobby Pins (matching your skater’s hair color) 

o Hair Spray & Hair Gel 

o Hair brush or Comb

 

o Makeup: 

  1. Foundation- The lights tend to wash out skaters faces

  2. Non-Smear Lipstick

    • Maybelline Super Stay lipstick works great & does not smear (Red)

 

o Makeup Remover wipes (just in case of makeup mishaps) 

o Tissues (for runny noses)

o Extra skate laces (if wearing your own figure skates)

o Band-Aids & ointment

o Tylenol

o Hand Sanitizer

 

o Extra pair of underwear in case of accidents

o Water (Clear liquid beverages ONLY) 

o Mess-Free Snacks (Examples: Granola bars, trail mix, dried fruit, wheat thins, granola) Please do not bring gum.

o Clothes to Go Home In (Shirt, pants, regular socks, shoes, underwear) 

Ice Show Practice
Below are some additional useful items to make practice more comfortable for your skater. All of the above items apply plus the below items, if you do not own any of these items please do not feel like you need to purchase them.

o Skating Jacket to keep your skater warm on the ice. If they get hot, they can remove the jacket and keep the shirt on beneath.

o Skating Pants to keep your skater warm on the ice. These also cover the laces.

o Ankle Protection to keep your skater's legs comfortable in skates.

o Tailbone Protection (worn over skating pants)

o Knee Protection

o Skating Socks

o Skating Gloves for warmth and protection

o Thermal Skate Boot Covers for warmth

o Leg Warmers for warmth

o Lace Puller to make lacing and removing your skaters skates quicker and easier.

o Box of Tissues (for runny noses) to keep on the boards in your rink tote. The cubes fit well in the rink tote.

o Band-Aids (for accidents) to keep on the boards in your rink tote.

o Water to keep in your rink tote on the board during practice.

Parent Ads:
  • Parents, you can put an Ad in the Ice Show Program!
  • The ad usually contains a photo of your child, their name, and some words of encouragement.
  • You will also receive tickets to the ice show! Ticket quantities vary based on ad size.
